Help us continue the pressure on Bilal Essayli who is responsible for the atrocities happening in Concentration Camps here in California!
People detained at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center and the neighboring Desert View Annex engaged in a hunger strike to protest the inhumane conditions in which they are being held at these detention facilities.
Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a report in May on his inspection of ALL the detention facilities in California and found the same horrific conditions. Both GeoGroup and CoreCivic, which operate facilities in Kern County, have not taken any steps to comply with the standards of detention in their contracts with the DHS Instead, they have retaliated against the hunger strikers including the extraordinary step of fast-tracking the deportation of one of the leaders of the strikes, transporting Kyron Swazo first to Texas and Louisiana, then flying him to Belize, without allowing him to challenge his removal from the United States.
SUCCESS! SB995 Passed!!!
"I have heard firsthand about the inhumane conditions detainees are being subjected to in these detention centers. Any and all legislation to force them to adhere to CA state health and safety standards must be passed. So please vote yes on SB995. The local governments are not getting it done. We need our state government to be the firewall against federal overreach they were intended to be.”
