WE MADE SOME NOISE today people!!!!
Hundreds of people, 3 news stations, 5 groups in coaltion, 14 police vehicles to make sure we didn't go into Home Depot and a helicopter... but those Died In Detention tombstone placards stole the show.
Thank you to all who came, supported, and particpated in our largest, by far, protest as a group.
Keep an eye out for posts: @nelafordemocracy instagram
ICE Out For Good Rally | Died In Detention/During Raids Protest
Hosted by NELA Alliance for Democracy with NDLON, IDEPSCA, ICE Breakers, Human Liberation Coalition, and Boycott Home Depot. Sign up here for future actions.
Our weekly protest is joining up with the National ICE Out For Good to protest the 38 lives that have been lost in the past year alone: 5 during ICE Raids and 31 or more while detained.
Wednesday, January 7th, we all saw Renee Good killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Another ICE agent had previously killed Silverio Gonzalez in Chicago, but without the benefit of shared videos.
These killings are a part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities. We demand accountability for the killings and an end to ICE and CBP raids. We will not sit by while violence goes unanswered and our communities are terrorized.
Justice for all 38 who died in the past year at the hands of ICE and in detention:
