On July 25th, a broad coalition of organizations, faith leaders, activists and community members from throughout the greater LA area are coming together to honor the lives that ICE has stolen from us and to stand together with a united demand for JUSTICE.
WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER!
We will gather in front of LA City Hall to begin a symbolic funeral procession to Placita Olvera where we will hold a vigil.
Core Accountability Demands
Leaders in Houston and Maine are asking communities across the country to support the following demands:
1. A full and independent investigation: Conduct a transparent investigation into their killing that is independent of ICE and makes the findings public.
2. Release and protect the witnesses: Immediately release the three men detained with Lorenzo, including his brother, and protect all witnesses in both cases from intimidation, coercion, retaliation, or deportation.
3. End local collaboration with ICE: Call on cities and states to end agreements, information sharing, and other forms of local cooperation that enable ICE operations without meaningful accountability.
4. Demand Congress Act: Members of Congress must use their oversight and funding authority to hold ICE and DHS accountable—including demanding public answers, conducting hearings, and opposing additional enforcement funding until there is an independent investigation and protections for all witnesses.
Purpose of the Vigil
Honor their lives and hold their families, coworkers, and communities in prayer.
Tell the truth about the killings and prevent the story from disappearing from public attention.
Create a visible, faith-rooted moral witness against violence, intimidation, and impunity.
Move participants from mourning to action by pressing local, state, and federal officials to meet the accountability demands.
SUCCESS! SB995 Passed!!!
"I have heard firsthand about the inhumane conditions detainees are being subjected to in these detention centers. Any and all legislation to force them to adhere to CA state health and safety standards must be passed. So please vote yes on SB995. The local governments are not getting it done. We need our state government to be the firewall against federal overreach they were intended to be.”
