Join us for our monthly West Coast Connection call as we develop, in coalition, impactful strategies to defend our democracy. Working locally and connecting regionally, in Southern, Central, and Northern California, Oregon, and Washington States, we share resources and support actions, benefiting from each group's perspectives and contributions.
Although all of us are heartened by the protests against ICE raids and the broader Trump administration assault, the fact that 45% of the U.S. public still supports mass deportations and the Trump Administration speaks to larger, deeper historical biases and injustices. MAGA has used misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, extreme nationalism, the idea of "survival of the fittest", and a large network of disinformation to promote hatred and division. In addition, the new U.S. federal budget includes $175 billion for the Department of Homeland Security, while cutting basic services and programs that will impact and hurt millions.
In this month's call, representatives from grassroots community organizations will discuss where we can go as a movement, not only in response to these attacks on human rights, but envisioning a sustainable future, honoring the hard-won progress of those who have come before.

We all know the power artists have to illuminate and inspire, at this critical junction, we need the particular impact that artists can make. We are building an art activism group, in alliance with a greater LA Coalition, to take art into the streets, digital realms, anywhere it can support the movement. We will be focusing on our new La Monarcha themed series of protests and will schedule a day of related art making over the weekend to get ready for our first action on 15th.
We are connecting with Artists of every sort- music, visual, theater, dance, graphic, film, etc, to engage and activate. We intend to harness the energy and utilize the special form of people power that the arts community has. Together, we can powerfully enhance various actions and create our own. All are welcome to help us build this art activism community. We would love to get you involved in whatever way makes sense for you, with opportunities for organizing, participating, networking, sharing skills and experience.
